What the heck?

So I really wanted to give it a try but after several weeks I barely find the deviations from my watchlist. Checking via mobile phone is impossible, too many klicks, buttons, hidden menus. Honestly, I still don't know where my old journals are or how I can read peoples journals anymore. I write this to find a way to find them again.

I often browsed the stock art but now I barely find anything useful. Even using tons of tags my results are overflowed with stuff not even close to a match. I mean, honestly, I look for an animal photograph stock bird and I get ... digital oversized boob furries in the dozen? Are you f**king kidding me? Or the other side - "Sorry, no results found". Getting rid of your category system was the worst decision ever.

Oh, and I have a big monitor in front of me and still I'm unable to see most of the daily deviations uncropped while checking them out. Way too big, guys! Can we please decide the size of thumbnails again? And arrange the menues for our personal use like before?

Since I'm not one of the top busy artists of this platform I already had low interaction before but now with all the "recommended" and "use all the 20 tags to make your art better findable" it is down to zero.

Cheez, you really did a good job to ruin a solid working platform.

Not amused.

Great news, everybody!

So my dears, it is about time for an update.

I guess you noticed that I don't use dA that much anymore, but don't worry.

During the last weeks I finally managed to finish my website www.vulpescorax.de and keep that updated as good as possible. I will also keep on posting here, but not that often.

For deviantart and the changes to eclipse and everything - I will not give it up, hell no. I love to browse stock photos for inspiration and help and check out on followed artists. But it is a sting to the side that categories soon will be a part of the past. (What the heck are you thinking, dA???)

I also started to downsize my uploads and put watermarks in everything. Unfortunately a necessary work to do as it seems.

INKtober 2019 and some things more

Really? More than a year since the last journal entry? Didn't notice it until now.

Lot of things changed during the last months. First of all I'd quit my warcraft account. Jup. Really. I did. Do I regret it? No. I still like to draw and write stuff around that universe but the game itself doesn't give me anything anymore.

Actually I received a lot of free time with that decision.

A big part of that time goes into family stuff, but the rest gave me opportunities to a whole bunch of new creative possibilites:

I started to learn old german writings - yes, with ink and quill. Even changed my ballpointpen-army at work against stylographs. The result? I'm getting back a readable handwriting. Even a stylish one! Me like!

I also started to take deeper dives into pencil drawings for portraits. With short, simple lessons that really impress me how fast the skills can built up.

Another thing I started (thank you, mom!): lace-making! Still with clumsy first steps but definitely something I want to do more!

Besides all this I signed up for some sport classes for my back-and-neck-pain, get more out, taking a swim now and then... All in all not the worst thing that could happen to me.

Maybe I will even open comission slots in 2020 - who knows!

Remember all the big plans I had in April? Yeah, figure out how much I actually worked out. So still no website but not because of lack of time but because I can't decide for a design and I can't get my lazy ass to finally work on it. The last months were the usual LARP high season and I already have a 10-point-list for next year (That I'm really already working on!). Lot of work to do but I'm afraid I can't show the stuff here before some clarifications are made. About time for a new entry before the last journal entry reaches its first birthday. So, who watches my stuff may have noticed a tendency to Warhammer paintings, especially the primarch chibies. I'm afraid you'll have to suffer still 9 more, since all of them are requested. Don't worry, I still work on other stuff. The last months were a bit stressful, but positive stress and a peak in creativity. I hope I'll manage to get even as half as all of the ideas on paper. As you may have noticed it's a bit quiet here. That's because I'm from head to toes covered in work and in preparing this years LARP season. I will be on holidays for the next 3 weeks, starting monday, and when I return I'll finally have time for drawing and painting again!
